Each polki is foiled by hand in silver and set flush in 22-karat gold — the Awadhi kundan technique, unchanged in six generations. The pearls are strung and re-strung until the fall lies perfectly against the collarbone; the enamel on the reverse is painted for the wearer alone.

The heavier registers of the house: gold drawn and chased by hand, kundan set flush in the Awadhi manner, and the wide kada worn in sets. These are the pieces a family adds to over years rather than buys at once, photographed the way they have always been shown.

The same craft in a quieter key: a polki choker over a blazer, emerald drops against a plain neckline. Every stone is hand-foiled and closed in gold, and the fall of each strand is set before the piece leaves the atelier.
